TRAVEL BEAUTY ESSENTIALS

''1. IDENTIFY THE ESSENTIAL

2. ELIMINATE THE REST''

- TERRRY GUILLEMENT

Since I have been planning a lot of trips recently,  I thought it was a good idea to share my Travel Beauty Essentials with you all. I felt that Terry Guillements quote fit perfectly with this post because as God taught us we should be minimalistic and not show off our possessions. With the society we live in, we are constantly surrounded with consumerism but God did not teach us to be pulled into consumerism, he taught us to be minimal and not greedy. For some, these Travel Beauty Esstentials are possessions and for others they are just trying the newest trendy items. But as Terry states, "Identify the Essential and Eliminate the rest", he is stating how you don't need the latest and greatest things, you have what you have and you should eliminate those extra items that consumerism pulled you into. God states that we shouldn't be showing off these "possessions" that we may be able to have. While others in the world, don't have access to these same possessions. We should follow in what God told us; limit our consumerism and rather then getting those expensive possessions, we should be minimal and live a simple life. Therefore,  these items that I have stated, are my go too and are my standard essentials, they aren't the latest or greatest. Just my little survival kit prepped and ready to pamper.

 > Hand Cream

To be honest this goes everywhere with me anyway, whether I’m travelling or just on the go, it’s imperative to have a good handcream that nourishes your skin and nails. My hands always feel so dry after washing them (which I do at whatever chance I get when travelling) so I’m always reaching for my hand cream at the bottom of my handbag. This one from Glysomed is my absolute favourite, it leaves hands feeling smooth and supple and has a calming scent (chamomile and glycerine). I can’t even begin to tell you how wonderfully it smells, I genuinely walk up to strangers like “Yo, you gotta smell my hands right now!”

> Lip Balm

You will never catch me without a lip balm when I'm out and about and it’s always the first product to be popped into my travel beauty bag. I’ve got the Smith's Rosebud Salve lip balm which I purchased ages ago and has been a favourite since. A small container lasts FOREVER, I’d say its almost been 5 months that I've had the same container. I like how the pot is quite short and round so that I can glide the tip of my finger over the product and not end up with it all under my nail. It is smooth and glides on nicely and leaves the taste of roses on your lips.

> Water

Getting my 3 ltrs of water a day isn’t an option, I actually have to now-a-days. If I don’t drink 3ltrs I feel it in my skin and feel sluggish as well as bloated. But it’s even more important when travelling by plane at a higher altitude, the air is already dry, which draws moisture from wherever it can (i.e. your skin) so it’s very important to replace the lost moisture by drinking hydrating fluids. I always take my Brita Fill & Go Bottle with me because it has a built in filtration system meaning the water I’m drinking is always at it's best.

> Body Moisturizer

This is an important one, especially for the return journey if you’ve spent the majority of your trip building up the perfect bronzed glow, you don’t want it to peel and flake on the plane so I recommend bring a body moisturizer.  I’m currently using the Aveeno Skin Relief Moisturizer Lotion which doesn't come in travel sizes but I just put it in those travel container(s). This is a gentle moisturizer that is fragrance free and is gentle on the skin. It provides a fast acting relief to dry skin and leaves the skin feeling silky smooth and healthy.

> Face Mask

Whenever I travel my skin always feels dull, tense and dry.  I'll usually take a few travel sized face masks with me from Shoppers Drug Mart (the Life brand ones).  I usually will pick up the detoxifying, hydrating and calming face masks. These are the kind of face masks that don't leave your skin feeling tight or dry on your face, in other words the its the type of face mask I like. It also has natural products/oils that leaves your skin feeling fresh and new. Some have blemish fighting components which is great and also makes my skin feel smooth and supple again.
